Controversy
On April 10, 2024, tragedy struck during the production of her film titled ‘The Other Side Of Life‘ in Anambra, which featured several prominent actors and actresses. The movie set was situated in a riverine area, necessitating the use of boats for transportation. Unfortunately, there were no life jackets available for safety measures.
As the actors returned from the movie location, the boat carrying some of them, including Pope Jnr, a prominent Nigerian actor, and sound engineer, was involved in an accident. Despite efforts to recover Pope Jnr’s body, he tragically did not survive the incident. This devastating loss reverberated throughout Nigeria, deeply affecting both the entertainment industry and the families involved.
In response to the incident, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) implemented a ban on any movie productions in Nigeria that involved crossing rivers or seas. Additionally, ‘The Other Side Of Life’ was banned, and Adanma Luke was suspended from working with any other actors or actresses in Nigeria.
The loss of Pope Jnr not only shook the nation but also left his family and loved ones in profound grief.
