Olanipekun Olukayode (born October 14, 1969) is the new Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), also known as Ola Olujoyede. President Ahmed Tinubu appointed him on October 12, 2023.
Early Life
Ola Olukayode was born and raised in Ikere Ekiti where he was nurtured in the guardian of his parents. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a passion for excellence, Olukayode pursued advanced education at renowned institutions both locally and internationally. He furthered his academic pursuits at Harvard University, where he attended the prestigious Kennedy School of Executive Education, honing his leadership and strategic management skills.
Continuing his quest for knowledge, Olukayode also enriched his academic portfolio by studying at the University of Lagos, a prominent institution in Nigeria known for its academic excellence. Additionally, he sought expertise in arbitration, participating in programs offered by the Institute of Arbitration, both in the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris and Lagos.

A man of faith, Olukayode served as a pastor at the Redeemed Church Of God, City of Refuge, Lagos Province 12, in Sasha, Lagos State. His dedication to spiritual leadership underscored his commitment to serving his community and fostering positive change.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Olukayode pursued a career in law, lending his expertise to a prominent law firm owned by Yemi Osinbajo, the former Vice President of Nigeria. As a legal practitioner, he navigated the complexities of the legal landscape with diligence and integrity.
Olukayode‘s involvement with the EFCC began in 2016 when he assumed the role of Staff to the Executive Chairman, a position he held until 2018. Recognizing his capabilities, he was subsequently appointed as the Secretary to the EFCC by the former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, a role in which he served diligently until 2023.
On October 12, following the dismissal of Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former EFCC chairman, President Ahmed Tinubu, entrusted Olanipekun OlujoOlukayode with the responsibility of leading the EFCC as its new Chairman. His appointment represents a continuation of his longstanding commitment to upholding justice and combating financial crimes in Nigeria.
