A young woman named Nabeeha and her five sisters were kidnapped from their home in Abuja on January 2, 2024. On January 3, 2024, a cousin named Adamu_Asiya_ shared the upsetting news about the kidnapping. Sadly, her uncle lost his life during the incident. She said, “Please pray for my sisters and uncle when you see this. Nabeeha, her sisters, and her dad were kidnapped in their house last night. We lost an uncle in the process. Your prayers are needed.”
Two days later, she updated everyone, saying that the kidnappers had released the girls’ father. Still, they demanded N60 million for the lives of Najeebah and her sisters, with a specific deadline.
To help with the ransom, the hashtag #NabeehaAndhersisters started to gather funds. Unfortunately, on Saturday, Asiya, the cousin, shared on the same platform that the kidnappers had tragically killed Nabeeha because the deadline for payment was not met. The ransom was then raised to N100 million.
She shared the heartbreaking news, “Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun. Please put Nabeeha in your prayers. May Allah grant her Al-Jannatul Firdaus. They killed her…”
After Nabeeha’s death, there was a strong outcry on social media, with people urging the police and the Nigerian government to act quickly and ensure the release of the remaining sisters. Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.) joined others in calling on the @PoliceNG and its spokesperson @PrinceMoye1 to acknowledge and respond urgently.
He stressed the tragic killing of Najeebah and the kidnappers’ demand for N100 million ransom for the remaining victims, urging the Nigeria Police to prioritize the case and provide all necessary resources for the safe rescue of the remaining victims.
