Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kweku Frimpong (born January 9, 2002) is professionally known as Black Sherif, a Ghanian rapper, singer, and songwriter who came into the limelight after the release of his solo single “First Sermon” 2021.
His “Second Sermon” remixed with Burna Boy which was released July 2021 gained a tremendous mainstream on AudioMack, Spotify, and Apple Music.
After the release of ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ in March 2022, the song rose to the top chart, rising to number one on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music Charts.
Early Life
Kwaku was born and raised in Konongo Zongo by his father, Mr.Frimpong, and Mrs. Ante Marie his mother, an Islamic parent. He grew up along the Ashanti region in Konongo with his Auntie where he spent his formation years and also received his early education.
His parent was not around as they both live outside the country.
Growing up as a young kid in the ghetto due to the family’s financial state, played a huge effect on his life as he grew up in one of the rough streets of the Konongo, having to learn about various cultures ad different ruins of experiences
He grew up listening to Afrobeat music from Ghanaian and Nigerian. At a younger age, He began making songs and freestyling both to his mates and in the neighborhood, He sometimes go to any competition in Konongo.
His love for music grew as he got older and became much better with his cocky style of music.
He was popularly known in his community and he became the most famous kid in his school, always thrilling his classmates with entertainment both in dancing as He was good at dancing and also with singing.
Education
Black Sherif received his primary and secondary education in Konogo, Ashanti Region. He had his secondary school education at Kumasi Academy and completed his secondary Education at Kumasi Academy in 2019.
He is currently a student at the University Of Professional Studies, studying marketing.
Career
After much practice and spending days in the studio, He finally decided to drop his first debut single “Cry For Me” in 2019 after he graduated from secondary school.
He became one of the acknowledged artists in Ghana. he released another hit single titled ‘Money’ in 2020 which went global and garnered him lots of fans. The song became a hit song in Ghana and other countries in Africa.
In 2021, He posted a freestyle video on his social media page, the video was reposted till it got to some Ghanaian big wig artist like Sarkodie.
A few days after the freestyle was posted, He was seen hanging out with Sarkodie, CEO of Sarkcess Music.
He fascinated a lot of his fans with a new release in 2021 after he dropped ‘First Sermon’ which took him continentally. The song was a massive breakthrough for him and it was followed up with another single titled ‘Second Sermon‘ two months after the release of the First Sermon. Kwaku became a bigger force in the industry, going viral and having his music massively streamed on all music platforms.
He made a remix of ‘Second Sermon’ collaborating with a top Nigerian and Grammy winner, Burna Boy which was released on the 8th of December, 2021.
He released another hit single which came as a massive success titled ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ the song rose to the number one spot on the Apple Music Chart in Ghana and Nigeria.

Kwaku is presently [calculate_years datestring=”01/09/2002″] years of age and He is popular Ghanaian-based act who visits Lagos Nigerian often to promote his music and also to collaborate with Nigerian artists. He is currently signed to Empire Music
He is presently single and has not on any of his social media handles made mentioned any girl yet, He is more focused on pushing his music.
He is a close pal with Poco Lee who introduced him to Burna Boy.
Rumors have it that He looks too old for his age but The Act claimed He’s 20 years of age and celebrates his birthday every 9th of January.
