Lawrence Godwin Kingsley (born August 23, 2003) is a multifaceted Nigerian celebrity who is also known as Kaptain Kush.
He is best known for his unique style of singing and is also a songwriter, rapper, and recording artist.
In addition to his music career, Kaptain Kush is the CEO of TheCityCeleb, a blog that covers entertainment and provides biographies of popular celebrities.
Early life
Kaptain Kush is a Nigerian who was born on August 23 in Lagos state. His mother, Mrs. Rose Lawrence, is a businesswoman from Akwa-Ibom state, while the identity of his father has yet to be widely known.
Despite being born in Lagos, Kaptain Kush spent much of his childhood with his grandmother. He was close with his grandmother and considered her to be his favorite.
At the age of a teenager, Kaptain Kush moved to Lagos to live with his mother, who had remarried and had a daughter from her new marriage. Kaptain Kush’s stepfather, Mr. Lawrence, also had a son from a previous relationship.
Kaptain Kush grew up in the Bariga neighborhood of Lagos, where he attended a public primary school with his stepbrother.
Despite facing challenges at home, Kaptain Kush was determined to succeed and focused on his studies. After completing primary school, his family moved to Meiran, where Kaptain Kush finished high school.
Living with his stepfather, who didn’t show much care for him, wasn’t easy for Kaptain Kush. In order to provide for himself and pay for his education, he began working various jobs. At first, he sold snacks in traffic, but the stress of the job led him to switch to selling SIM cards from street to street. The long distances he had to travel to market his goods often kept him out late at night.
Eventually, Kaptain Kush stopped working as a street vendor and applied for a hotel bartender job. It was there that he discovered a passion for blogging.
He completed his tertiary education at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (Mapoly) in Abeokuta.
Career
Kaptain Kush began his career in rap music while still in high school, inspired by American rappers such as Lil Wayne and Eminem.
He started writing his own lyrics and even recorded some rap freestyles, which he shared on social media. His talent was recognized when he released his first song, “Kush Song,” and he has since released several more tracks and collaborated with artists such as Gzone, Alaye Proof, Bolex, and Spliff Balogun.
In July 2020, he released his debut album, “Love and Breakup,” which received widespread acclaim and helped increase his popularity in the music industry.
In addition to his career in music, Kaptain Kush is a multi-talented individual who runs a website called TheCityCeleb, which features entertainment news and celebrity biographies. He is also a social media manager, web designer, and web developer.
